,

Vivo X Note is a huge 7-inch flagship smartphone with many advanced features. Here’s how it compares to the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Vivo XNote It is a flagship phone that was launched along with the Vivo X Fold and it has specifications and features that make it a worthy competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Vivo is actually a close partner of Samsung, being one of the few brands that have launched phones with Exynos chipsets. The latest Exynos-powered smartphone is the 2021 Vivo X60 (Chinese variant) which is powered by Exynos 1080. Interestingly, Samsung hasn’t released a phone with this chipset yet.

Vivo may not be popular in North America but it showed off some of its innovative products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. In 2018, Vivo showcased the world’s first smartphone with a fingerprint scanner, a feature that is now standard on many phones. The following year, it showed off a concept phone that had no ports or buttons. The phone, dubbed Vivo APEX 2019, also has a fingerprint scanner that covers almost the entire screen.

Both phones have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor (Exynos 2200 for the S22 Ultra in some areas) but Vivo adds a dedicated V1 chip that helps improve the picture and also takes care of some of the GPU’s tasks. Although both phones come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM, the storage options on the Vivo X Note go as high as 512GB while the S22 Ultra is available in a 1TB variant in some regions. As for the camera setup, the two phones have a quad-camera setup on the back. The Samsung setup includes a 108MP f/1.8 main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS and 10x zoom, a 10MP OIS telephoto camera with 3x zoom, and a 12MP 120° wide-angle camera. It also has a 40MP HD front camera that can record in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. The Vivo X Note, on the other hand, has a 50MP f/1.57 primary sensor, an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 60x Super Zoom, a 12MP professional portrait camera with a focal length of 47mm, and a 48MP 114MP Ultra-wide-angle camera. Widescreen and is the only sensor that lacks OIS. The selfie camera is a 16 megapixel unit.

Both Samsung and Vivo have adopted an in-display fingerprint scanner, but Vivo claims the scanning area is larger on its phone and can also scan wet hands. There is also support for dual fingerprint scanning but this is limited to some applications. Despite their different sizes, the battery capacity is the same on both phones at 5,000mAh. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra only supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, while the Vivo X Note beats this out with its 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also supports 10W reverse wireless charging which is faster than the 4.5W that the S22 Ultra can do.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra has some additional features such as the built-in S-Pen, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and Samsung DeX. Despite its name, the Vivo X Note doesn’t have stylus support, but it does have a physical mute switch like the Alert Slider on OnePlus phones, and an incognito mode that deactivates cameras, microphones, and GPS when activated. It also comes with 80W power, unlike the S22 Ultra which doesn’t ship with a power adapter. Both phones run Android 12 but with different custom skins.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s cameras with up to 100x zoom, S-Pen, DeX, UWB, and longer software support give it an edge over Vivo’s flagships. However, the Vivo X Note also has great cameras (on paper at least), ultra-fast wired and wireless charging with the included charger, and a not-so-generic design.
