Arkfall: Mech Battles is a complete first-person shooter game built inside Minecraft: Bedrock Edition

Minecraft is quite an impressive enough game on its own merits, but a lot of how it has been able to last for so long with such amazing levels of success is due to its community. Mojang Studios was able to create new content for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with a large number of official tools, released through the Minecraft Marketplace, and an independent developer has now taken on this relationship. Syclone Studios releases Arkfall: Mech Battles, a complete game created entirely within Minecraft.

Arkfall: Mech Battles is a first-person shooter set in a sci-fi fantasy world; Players will take control of a devastating mechanical suit and explore the city of New Futura. Syclone Studios intends this title to be the first of many games in a growing franchise, with each game built entirely using the creators’ always-evolving tools and features in the Bedrock Edition. Arkfall: Mech Battles is a completely different entity from vanilla Minecraft, featuring unique gameplay, mechanics, and more.

Some of the features of Arkfall: Mech Battles include:

• Single and multiplayer co-op campaign. Arkfall: Mech Battles features a campaign that explores the futuristic city, where players will have to face waves of enemy units, complete a variety of objectives and mission types, and defeat three custom bosses. Players can complete the campaign on their own, or bring up to three additional friends for a co-op experience.
  • Players can choose which campaign missions they want to complete from an interactive ‘mechanic center’
  • Players can learn how to play the game through the complete in-game tutorial “Simulation” mission
• Four mechanisms and a variety of equipment. Arkfall: Mech Battles Include four Unique mechanical suits to choose from, each with a special ability to summon in battle. There are also usable items, five different weapons, and fully customizable equipment for each mechanic.
• Detailed visuals and audio. Arkfall: Mech Battles differentiates itself from vanilla Minecraft with a wide range of custom features that bring its visuals and sound to life, including:
  • Unique materials applied all over the world
  • Models of mechanics, enemies, trees, leaves, sculptures, statues, and many other aspects of the world
  • Animation of all player and enemy actions
  • Particle effects for weapons, explosions, smoke, fire and other effects
  • Fully voiced characters within the game, tutorials, and more
  • Studio-quality sound for sound effects, ambiance, and more
• multi-platform. At launch, Arkfall: Mech Battles will immediately support multiplayer co-op for its campaign. After launch, the game will add multiplayer options in PvP mode and server-based options for players. This multiplayer game benefits from Minecraft: Bedrock Edition’s excellent cross-platform support to work across every platform that Minecraft is available on.

Arkfall: Mech Battles will be released exclusively through the Minecraft Marketplace on April 19, 2022, and will be supported anywhere Minecraft: Bedrock Edition runs, including Xbox, PC, PlayStation, Android, iOS, macOS, and Linux. The first indie game to be built and published through Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Syclone Studios hopes to encourage other developers to follow suit as they expand the Arkfall franchise with future games.

Minecraft is definitely one of the best Xbox games, but can a game built within a game also achieve the same level? It’s clear that a lot of work has gone into resurrecting Arkfall: Mech Battles, and it will be interesting to see if it can deliver a compelling first-person shooter experience inside of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
