Each year, the World Photography Organization reveals the winners of the Sony World Photography Awards.
This year, Adam Ferguson of Australia won first prize, while several other photographers from a range of categories, such as environment and sports, won.
Ferguson spoke of his winning shots, a series of black and white self-portraits of immigrants in Mexico waiting to cross the border into the United States, saying: 'By collaborating with immigrants, this photo series was an attempt to take pictures. that inspired sympathy rather than sympathy.
"By relinquishing control of families and giving each immigrant agency a representation process, I hoped to undermine the narrative of marginalization and create a story that felt more human, more connected, and honest."
The footage can be seen at the Sony World Photography Awards 2022 exhibition that opened at Somerset House, London from April 13 to May 2, along with more than 300 other publications.
Here are some of the highlights and other winners of this year's competition.
