LIFE Photo Collection launches the NFT collection on KnownOrigin from its featured photo archive

New York–(work wire) – The LIFE Picture Collection announced today that it is releasing a token non-fungible (NFT) collection of its legendary photographs. NFTs are unique digital items with ownership managed by the blockchain. LIFE will partner with NFT KnownOrigin Marketplace and distribute exclusive drops of their featured photos, starting April 14th.

Founded in 1936, LIFE, the first photography publication in the United States, developed a catalog of 20th century photographs. Through the work of pioneering photographer Margaret Bourke-White, the launch provides an opportunity for serious collectors to own as authentic and important photographic pieces as NFTs. LIFE joins other major groups such as the Associated Press and the British Museum of Instrument NFTs.

“LIFE is always striving to share its amazing images with new communities,” said Tom Rowland, President of LIFE Picture Collection. “There is a growing number of photography enthusiasts on Web3, and we see this as a way to engage with new audiences around photojournalism and art.”

KnownOrigin is a technical NFT marketplace on the Ethereum blockchain. Founded in April 2018 and headquartered in Manchester, UK, KnownOrigin, one of the early Web3 pioneers in the field of NFT, is a single platform for creating and collecting NFTs using the most exciting creative tools and services.

David Moore, co-founder of KnownOrigin, commented, “We are delighted that LIFE has partnered with KnownOrigin to launch their journey into the NFTs. LIFE is an iconic and historically significant brand with compelling and instantly recognizable imagery, including the covers of popular LIFE magazines.” Photography and NFT photography are great use cases for blockchain technology and NFTs. We have recently seen the growing importance and accessibility of photography within the NFT community. The LIFE Picture Collection is unparalleled in its breadth and variety of amazing content. It is an honor to have LIFE on our platform” .

The drop will include an auction in reserve, rare editions, and other more limited supply items, and items will be priced according to their rarity. It will also be accompanied by Twitter spaces And a new LIFE Discord channel to connect audiences with the brand.

LIFE and KnownOrigin will display a virtual exhibition in Decentraland on the KnownOrigin plot. Continuing the evolving LIFE philosophy, the exhibition will be an immersive world that celebrates LIFE stories. The LIFE Gallery platform will display additional NFTS and LIFE images and assets.

LIFE will offset any emissions from the NFT minting process from sales. A portion of proceeds from NFT sales will also be donated to charities selected by the LIFE team, with the first drop benefiting the Malala Fund.
