How to enable advanced fraud protection for your Apple Card

When Apple Card launched back in 2019, it was completely unique to a credit card. After all, this was a credit card that was basically in your Apple Wallet, and while you can get a physical card to use, this isn’t the primary way to pay with it and offers the worst cashback percentage. But with Apple Wallet integration, Apple Card users get an easy-to-use and fun interface to manage their Apple Card, and Apple just kept improving the Apple Card.

One of the newer features of the Apple Card is advanced fraud protection, which first appeared in iOS 15. This little feature adds an extra level of security to your Apple Card, making it difficult for anyone to use your account if they somehow obtain Your card number.

Here’s how to enable advanced fraud protection for your Apple Card. You will need to make sure that you are running the latest iOS 15 version first on your best iPhone, such as the iPhone 13 Pro.

What is advanced fraud protection?

Before we dive into how to enable this feature, let’s talk about what it is first. It is a security feature that will constantly change the three-digit security code of your Apple Card. It’s not known how often the Card Verification Code (CVV) changes because all Apple says it will change “periodically.” This affects whenever you need to view them in the Wallet app, or through Safari’s autofill.

But what about the recurring payments you’ve already set up with your Apple Card? Don’t worry, Advanced Fraud Protection does not affect your existing recurring payments. This is because merchants only need the CVV security code to authenticate the first payment, but payments after that do not need to enter the CVV number again.

So when you turn on Advanced Fraud Protection, you’ll need to go into the Wallet app and display the number every time you intend to make a purchase, or when you set up a recurring payment for a service.

How to enable advanced fraud protection for your Apple Card

1. Play file wallet app on your iPhone.

2. Click on Apple Card.

3. Click on Card information button at the top. It looks like a credit card with “123” on it.
4. You will need to Authorization with your biometrics (Face ID or Touch ID) or pass code.

5. Click on switch to Advanced Fraud Protection to running (green).

Congratulations, you are now more protected from unwanted purchases with your Apple Card. If you ever want to turn this feature off, just follow the steps above but make sure the toggle is turned off (greyed out).

Stay safe with advanced fraud protection

Since I got my Apple Card in 2020, it’s become my primary card to pay for everything. I long ago gave up my debit card because if I were to spend my money I might as well get some cash from it, right? Of course, I use better credit cards when appropriate, but the Apple Card is great when I use Apple Pay or make purchases from Apple. I’ve been using advanced fraud protection since the feature was launched, and it gives me more peace of mind, which is never a bad thing.
