everything you need to know

This is understandable: you are looking for a new phone and you are unsure of which one to buy. You've heard of the Motorola Edge+ 2022 and have some questions about it. Well, you've come to the right place. We have a full review that highlights the key aspects, pros and cons of the device.

However, if you have a bunch of questions about this phone, this article will try to answer as many as possible. Whether you want to know about the camera features or how big a battery will come to the phone, it will be announced.

What are the screen features?

One of the signature features of this phone has to be the display. Motorola Edge+ 2022 has a 6.7-inch POLED display. It has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 which makes it a Full HD+ display.

It runs at 144Hz, which is 16.6% faster than 120Hz displays. This means you won't see much difference between the two refresh rates. However, a 144Hz display is 2.4 times faster than a 60Hz display.
When it comes to brightness, the screen can achieve up to 600 nits of brightness. This is good enough to see the screen in direct sunlight.

What processor does this phone use?

Motorola Edge+ was one of the first phones to launch with Qualcomm's 2022 flagship SoC. This is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This chip uses one Cortex-X2 core clocked at 3GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. These CPUs are accompanied by Adreno 730 GPU.

When it comes to storage, there are three options. The base configuration is 128GB, the middle is 256GB and the phone goes up to 512GB. As for RAM, there are options between 8GB and 12GB RAM.

What software is it using?

Out of the box, Motorola Edge+ runs Android 12. Motorola does the same. Motorola has managed to deliver an experience really close to Stock Android, but it also adds its own flair to the software.

This includes a more robust set of tools for customizing the theme. For a more comprehensive breakdown of theme customization tools, you can find our How-To guide for changing the theme here. In summary, icon shape, text font, theme color, UI size, etc. You can customize many themes such as

Besides the features inherent in Android 12, Moto has its own unique features. For starters, there are Moto gestures found on a few Motorola phones. There are double chops to activate the flashlight. This eliminates the need to unlock the phone to use the flashlight.

You can quickly access the camera by twisting your wrist twice. A quick and easy (and risky) way to activate the camera. If you need to take a screenshot quickly, you can press and hold three fingers on the screen. It will take a screenshot after about a second.

What are the camera features?

Motorola Edge+ has a triple camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP shooter that goes down to about 12.5MP. It has a sensor size of 1/1.5 inches and an aperture of f/1.8. This camera produces images with a pixel size of 1 micron.

The main camera is accompanied by two additional cameras. One is an ultra-wide/macro camera combination. This too has a resolution of 50MP and also drops down to around 12.5MP. This camera has a wider aperture of f/2.2 and produces images with .64 micron pixels.

The last rear camera is the depth sensor. It has 2MP resolution and f/2.4 aperture. First of all, we have an interesting story; The selfie camera has a higher resolution than the main camera. This is a 60 MP camera that can be downloaded up to 15 MP.

On the video side, this phone can shoot 1080p video at up to 60fps (up to 960fps when using super slow motion). Also, the camera can shoot 4K video and 8K video at 30fps.

How is the camera performance?

Not great, unfortunately. Pictures come out with blurry details and really oversaturated colors. The camera is having trouble finding focus. The user zooms in on a photo only to find that the camera is focusing on the wrong subject in the picture. Night mode is fine, but taking blurry photos is a lot easier than on something like the Pixel.

How is the sound experience?

The sound experience is pretty good. You'll find that the dual speakers on this phone are more than enough for most situations. If you're into music with a lot of bass, these speakers will shine. Music like pop, rock, hip-hop, and other modern genres should be fine (I personally like '80s pop performances).

When it comes to vocal and orchestral music, it's a different story. Bass emphasis causes high frequencies to fade into the background. Listening to classical music or certain soundtracks won't be that immersive.

How is the battery and charge status?

Motorola Edge+ comes with a 4,800mAh battery. With moderate to light use it can last you a day and a half. The battery can be charged by wired and wireless means. You have 30W wired charging that can charge from 0-100% in a little over an hour. The 15W charger can charge the phone in about 4 1/2 hours. Also, Motorola Edge+ can use reverse charging to assist other devices.

The battery can last you a long time, but what if you want it to last a little longer. Well, there's a How-To guide to squeeze a little more juice out of your Motorola Edge+. It covers tips from adjusting your screen brightness to getting rid of background processes.

What features does the phone have? Which ones are missing?

Although this is not considered a feature, the Motorola Edge+ 2022 comes with a charger in the box. You will get the included 30W wired charging brick.

As for the missing features, there are a handful. Unfortunately you won't be able to get a 3.5mm headphone jack with this phone. If you want to listen to the content, you need to use Bluetooth devices or buy a dongle.

While three storage options should suffice for most people, some will be disappointed to learn that there is no expandable storage. You need to be satisfied with the storage space on the device.

While it's pretty standard to have some sort of zoom camera, this phone isn't. Therefore, if you want to zoom in on your subject further, you have to do it digitally.

How much does this phone cost?

If you're in the Motorola Edge+ market, you'll need to be prepared to pay some big bucks. The 512GB version of this phone costs $999. That puts it in direct competition with the Galaxy S22+ and is $100 more than the Pixel 6 Pro.

Who is this phone for?

Motorola Edge+ is for dedicated Motorola fans who want unique Moto features in a premium package. You don't get the best screen or camera, but its performance and gaming capabilities carry the show. Motorola's handling of theme customization and gestures will make any Motorola fan feel right at home.
